 Scientific Name:
  • Lampropeltis triangulum elapsoides
 Description:
  •  One of the most beautiful snakes due to their attractive colours
  •  Red colour with yellow band in between black bands
  •  It's non-venomous snake.
  •  Quite similar to venomous coral snake, make sure they are Scarlet Kingnake before you handle them
  •  Hardly seen in the nature as it's very secretive which always hide beneath log and bark
 Distribution:
  •  Eastern of United States
  •  Throughout Floride to Mississippi River
 Breeding:
  •  Approximately 18 months
 Nesting:
  •  2 - 8 eggs per clutch in May or June to August
  •  Incubation takes 52 to 58 days
  •  Hatch in summer
 Size:
  •  Adult: Up to 20 inches
  •  Hatchling: About 6 inches
 Life Span:
  •  Up to 25 years in wild
 Diet:
  •  The kingsnakes eat rodents, small mice, lizards and other snakes
  •  They eat insects and worms too.
 Snake Habitat and Vivarium Housing:
  •  Can be found near wet prairie hammocks, open pine flatwoods, mixed hardwood and decaying trees.
  •  Also can be seen in upland pine forests and sandhills.
  •  In captivity, a hide box should be provide as they are vey secretive
